Review: The Razor E200 Electric Scooter

Razor's mid-level electric standing scooter, sandwiched by the smaller E100 and the larger E300. Similarly, it's a few mph faster than little brother, a few slower than big brother. It can carry a slightly heavier rider than the E100, but can't really handle the larger riders over 150 lbs or so that can ride the E300 with ease.

With a larger deck, frame, and tires, the E200 can handle riders up to younger teens, while still being suitable for younger riders that are ready. As with other Razor products, many users find the official age rankings a bit high. But make no mistake '" this has the speed and size to possibly get away from very inexperienced or small riders. Use your judgment and wear all safety gear, just to be safe.

This model includes 8 inch pneumatic tires in both front and back, unlike the E100 which has a polyurethane drive wheel. Given the extra 30 lbs or so in rated capacity, that's a good thing '" though admittedly both models will struggle a bit if you get too close to the limits.

With the tires and a generously-sized deck and frame, it's more like a scaled-down E300 than an upscaled E100. All in all, that's pretty good. It goes fast but not too fast to be truly dangerous. If a kid can handle a bike, they can probably handle this or other electric scooters.

All in all, the E200 is a durable, mid-ranged scooter that will provide you with speedy performance in a sturdy package. If you don't see the desire to upgrade to the full-sized E300 anytime soon, then you could save a few dollars and still get a full-featured scooter in the E200. Similarly, if your rider can handle a little bit more speed and size than the E100, then the E200 may be a good first choice as well. For many riders, the E200 is the Goldilox choice '" just right (ask your parents about Goldilox if you're unfamiliar with the story).

One issue that came up for a few users was the ground clearance for heavier riders on bumpy terrain. It's not as low as the E100, but the solid rear wheel of the E100 and the smaller riders that usually use it make it less of an issue on that model. With the E200, riders too close to the weight limit may have the motor scrape the ground on some bumps. Not likely a huge issue, but something to think about if you're torn between the E300 and this.

Conclusion:

The Razor E200 is a full-sized scooter that is approachable enough for many younger riders while still offering decent performance and challenge for older riders that aren't too big yet. It doesn't have quite the performance and size of the E300 but for many riders, that's ok. For them, the E200 will make a great choice.
