Growing up, my mother often prepared us for the day with a hot bowl of Quaker Oats.

I didn't like it as much as as other cereals that had pictures of "Tony the Tiger", "Wild Bill Hickok", or "Tucan Sam". At the time, the picture of an old George Washington look alike on the box didn't impress me very much. Still, my mother, like many other mothers, would continue to prepare it for me and my siblings.

Years later, I would do the same with my children. Now as I enter my Senior Citizen stage of life, I find myself still eating Quaker Oats.

There are so many important reasons to eat Oatmeal. Here are a just a few. 1. The food is hot. It is -1 degree outside as I write this review. 2. It is filling. 3. It can be made in one minute. 4. It helps reduce cholesterol. 5. It can be prepared in a microwave or on top of the stove. 6. It is high in fiber and iron.

Nutritional Facts

One serving size is half a cup.(40g). Each container has 13 servings inside it's round box. (net weight is 18 oz). Each serving has 150 calories. 25 of these calories are fat. Total fat is 3g or 4%. Saturated fat is 2% or 0.5g. There is 0% trans fat. Cholesterol 0% . Sodium 0%. Total carbohydrates 27g or 9%. Dietary Fiber 15% or 4g. Soluble fiber 2g. Insoluble fiber 2g. Sugars 1g. Protein 5g. Vitamin A, C, and Calcium 0%. Iron 10%. (the above is based on a daily 2000 calorie diet.) It is 100% natural whole grain.

Quaker Oats for your heart is prepared very easily and quickly. For two servings, put 1 3/4 cups of milk or water in a pan and bring to a small boil. Stir in one cup of Quaker Oatmeal. Reduce heat and stir again until desired texture is reached. Take it out and place it into two bowls. (2 servings).

You can dress up your meal with brown sugar, butter, milk, or fresh fruit. My mother use to put peach preserves in it.
