Review: Lays Baked Cheddar and Sour Cream Potato Chips

Potato chips aren't very healthy. So I've been on the lookout for some healthier versions of my favorite indulgences. Lay's Baked! Cheddar and Sour Cream Flavored Potato Chips tops my list of favorites. Unlike Lay's Natural line of chips, Lay's Baked! line of products is lower in fat than typical chips.
Lay's Baked! Cheddar and Sour Cream Potato Chips had a total of 120 calories, 3 grams of fat, 210 mg of sodium per one ounce serving. They were fairly high in phosphorus and vitamin B6, scoring 8% of the USRDA of both.
I found that they tasted better than Lay's Natural Thick Cut Sea Salted Potato Chips. I was surprised, however, that there wasn't much of a calorie savings despite the fact that Lay's Baked! Potato Chips are low in fat.
They had only 30 calories less per serving than the Lay's Natural Potato Chips. They were also considerably lower in vitamin C than the Lay's Natural Potato Chips. However, they were also considerably lower in sodium than the Lay's Natural Potato Chips, which weighed in at 370 mg of sodium per serving.
They were also somewhat crumbly, which made it hard to dip with these chips. Nevertheless, these are some of my favorite chips. The flavor is very bold and delicious, despite the lower sodium content. There weren't many artificial ingredients in the chips. I only found artificial flavor and color in the ingredients list.

I don't use this product as a staple. They're a little too addictive, and too expensive to keep around the house. The problem is that if I have them, I eat them. So I only purchase these chips every once in a while when I'm in the mood to splurge.
Since they're not organic, low calorie or completely natural, it makes more sense to me to pick up a small bag of Lay's regular cheddar and sour cream potato chips in the small bag for a quarter. That way I save money, and don't risk eating too many chips.
If you're trying to control your cholesterol level, though, these chips could probably help. They're naturally cholesterol free, half a gram of saturated fat and no trans fat. Since they're made with sunflower oil, they contain some healthy polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats.
Overall, Lay's Baked! Cheddar and Sour Cream Potato Chips are a quality product which I recommend.
