Like so many people, we like food. Real Food.

Food that is made from quality ingredients. And, these days, we are making most of that at home. We decided bread was too important to be left to chance, and would once again make that at home as well.

In checking the baking aisle, we were looking for something that seemed a little better than we had used previously. Reading all of the packages for ingredients, we were assured that King Arthur Flour was indeed 100% Whole Wheat Flour. The product is made in the United States, from 100% U.S. grown wheat, as one would hope it would be. But here is where they got us: The company is 100% employee-owned!

Employee owned? Why would that make King Arthur Flour perform better than other flours? Probably it had nothing to do with the outcome of our bread, but it is important to us. With so many jobs being lost in the United States, we were happy to purchase King Arthur Whole Wheat Flour and give it a try. Also, the company has been in existence for over 200 years. We find this amazing.

Here is what we found when using the product: The King Arthur Whole Wheat Flour bag contained a recipe we would use. The flour was surprisingly light in weight. We have used other whole wheat flour that did not seem to have the fine texture that King Arthur Flour has. Maybe it is just our imagination, but we thought this could give us a better outcome in our recipes.

If you are not familiar with bread making, don't worry. The directions on the bag are clear enough to get a novice through their first try with success. After you have made a few loaves, you will be sold on making bread for yourself rather than buying something that does not equal what you can make.

I was not too sure how our bread would turn out, as we bake in a convection oven. Also, we used a different type of loaf pan: They suggested the dough be place in one 8 1/2 x 4 1/2. We split the dough, and used too smaller pans.

The recipe turned out great! Everyone gathered in the kitchen at 10 PM waiting for a sample. The bread was delicious. The texture was exactly what I had hoped for. The next time we make bread, we will double the recipe so there will be enough for an extra meal.

In summary: The King Arthur Whole Wheat Flour we purchased performed exactly as it should have.

The final product turned out better than we expected.

Would I buy King Arthur Whole Wheat Flour again? It is probably the only brand of whole wheat flour we will buy.
