Recently, I began doing much of my freelance writing work out of the house. While perusing the assortment of beverages offered at a West Hartford,Connecticut Starbucks (R) location two weeks ago,I spotted a selection of what appeared to be gourmet sodas,with the brand name of IZZE (R).Packaged in sleek looking,tall,clear 12 fl oz glass bottles,IZZE (R)is actually a carbonated juice beverage,or Sparkling Juice drink.Although they are not marketed as sodas,IZZE(R) Sparkling Juice Beverages look and taste like some of the best sodas that I've ever consumed.

IZZE(R)Beverages Inc was started in 2003,by two friends who wanted to create a new type of beverage.Somewhat-inspired by European gourmet sodas,these entrepreneurs set-out to develop a new type of non-alcoholic sparkling beverage.Since developing their product,IZZE(R)Sparkling Juice beverages have become popular with American consumers of all ages.

They contain no refined sugar and no caffeine and contain 70% fruit juice. IZZE (R) is a very ethical, responsible and giving company. They support and encourage recycling and alternative energy sources and they donate money to various causes.These sparkling beverages are regularly sold at many Starbucks (R) locations,as well as at grocery stores and food retailers,restaurants and delis,schools,other coffee shops,cafes and even on some airlines.IZZE(R)Sparkling Juice beverages can be found in all parts of the United States,as well as in parts of Canada,Japan and England.

IZZE (R) Beverages Inc produces three types of sparkling juice drinks;Regular IZZE (R)drinks,IZZE Fortified drinks and IZZE esque.IZZE(R) Fortified drinks contain added Vitamins C,B6 and Niacin and are sold in 8.4- ounce cans.IZZE ESQUE (R) drinks are low-calorie versions of the flavorful IZZE(R) beverages.IZZE esque(R)drinks contain less than half the calories of regular IZZE(R) drinks,with only 40 calories per 8-ounce serving.

So far, I have only had the opportunity to sample two flavors of regular IZZE (R) Sparkling Juice drinks; the Grapefruit and Clementine varieties. It seems as though both of the Starbucks (R) stores that I patronize stock only those two flavors. My favorite of the two, the Sparkling Grapefruit variety, consistently offers a dynamically- fresh flavor that is not- too- sweet and not too tart.

The IZZE (R) Sparkling Grapfruit drink also looks almost as good as it tastes. The deep, pink color and microscopic- sized bits of fruit, speak of high quality ingredients. The nice, fruity taste of the IZZE (R) Sparkling Grapefruit variety is accented well by just the right amount of carbonation. The IZZE (R) Sparkling Clementine variety is an orangeish- yellow, citrus- flavored sparkling juice drink that also contains a steady burst of tangy, mildly- sweet flavor.

To me, these top- rate beverages are meant to be savored and enjoyed at a leisurely pace. I have asked staff members at both of my local Starbucks (R) if they could stock more flavors of IZZE (R) drinks in their stores, but they have told me that it is basically a corporate decision. In the meantime, I plan to visit various food retailers in my area, to see if I can purchase some other flavors of IZZE (R) Sparkling Juice drinks.

Nutritionally, regular IZZE (R) Sparkling Juice drinks contain between 120 and 140 calories per one 12- ounce bottle serving. IZZE esque (R) Sparkling Juice drinks contain 60 calories per one 12- ounce bottle serving. IZZE (R) Fortified Sparkling Juice drinks contain between 80 and 90 calories per one- can serving. All things considered, IZZE (R) Sparkling Juices are delicious, top- quality products that this food writer highly recommends.
