Meatloaf is one of my favorite comfort foods. Homemade meatloaf takes time to prepare and it is loaded with calories. There is a way to enjoy your favorite comfort foods without sacrificing your health. Healthy Choice offers a nice selection of meals for dieters which include foods like steak, fish, and meatloaf. Each Healthy Choice meal comes with vegetables and a low-fat dessert. I came across healthy Choice meatloaf at Wal-mart a while back. The attractive green packaging caught my attention so I decided to purchase one. The dinner comes with meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes, and apple dessert.
Taste and Preparation
You can prepare Healthy Choice Meatloaf in the microwave or conventional oven. I prefer using the microwave. Cut a slit in the plastic film and place in the microwave for 7-8 minutes. You may need more or less time depending on your microwave. It takes about twenty minutes in a standard oven.
The meatloaf doesn't taste like traditional meatloaf but it is tender and juicy. The brown gravy helps the flavor but I would rather have tomato sauce. It seems more like meatloaf with tomato sauce. The mashed potatoes are the best I have ever eaten in a frozen dinner. In most dinners, the potatoes are thin and dry. I managed to eat them in this meal without adding extra salt and butter. The green beans are crisp and juicy.

The package claims Healthy Choice Meatloaf is made with lean ground beef and has no transfat. It contains soy, wheat, and milk ingredients so if you are allergic to any of these don't purchase this product. A 12 oz package has 300 calories and 80 calories from fat. This isn't bad for a frozen dinner. Standard frozen meals usually have twice the calories.
Total fat comes to a total of 8 grams or 12 per cent of daily value. The sodium count isn't too bad at 540 milligrams or 28% PDV .The carbohydrate count seems to be bit high for a supposedly healthy meal at 40 grams. You also get the extra benefits of Vitamin A at 4% PDV, 8% PDV for calcium, 15% PDV for protein. Healthy Choice meatloaf provides a 50%PDV of Vitamin C which you need anyway.
Healthy Choice Meatloaf meal fills me up and is quick to fix. On a scale of one to ten, I give Healthy Choice Meatloaf an 8 because of the high carbohydrate count. Otherwise it is a highly recommended product.
