Review: Equate Sugar Free Cough Drops

Published 09:14 am

It never fails. As soon as my girls go back to school each year, they both seem to catch a cold in the first weeks of Fall. It also never fails, that the aforementioned cold makes the rounds throughout my home and both my husband and myself find ourselves coughing and sneezing.

Sure enough, the month of September was barely over and both my daughters came down with severe colds. As with most colds, the first of their symptoms, and then later mine, was a sore throat.

I stopped off at Walmart for several items and picked up a bag of Equate Sugar Free Cough Drops. In anticipation of the worst of Cold and Flu season, I have since stocked up on several bags of these over the counter cold treatments.

This product contains five point eight mg of Menthol, which is used as a cough suppressant and an oral anesthetic. In other words, this cough drop is supposed to soothe the throat and help to reduce the amount of coughing. I also compared the product quantity to others on the shelf. By choosing the Equate brand over other more recognizable brands of cough drops, I definitely got more product for less money.

Equate Sugar Free Cough Drops claims to also cool nasal passages and offer very fast relief. When experiencing a painful sore throat and an annoying, hacking cough, fast relief is definitely what we are looking for. I definitely liked the fact that this cough drop did not contain any sugar, since I knew that my family would probably go through quite a bit of these.

My entire family agreed that Equate Sugar Free Cough Drops definitely performs as advertised. After allowing a cough drop to dissolve in our mouths, the relief was instantaneous. The irritation of our sore throats dissipated and there was a distinct reduction in coughing. This product was certainly very effective and relieved the most uncomfortable qualities of our illness.

The back of the Equate Sugar Free Cough Drops contains a ton of very useful information including the facts that each cough drop contains six calories and it's inactive ingredients are acesulfame potassium, eucalyptus oil, flavoring, hydrogenated starch hydrolysate, isomalt, sucralose and water.

This product should only be given to children five years of age and older, and the guidance of a health professional should be sought for children younger than five and by pregnant or lactating women, before using this product.

Overall, I would give Equate Sugar Free Cough Drops five out five stars.

This product is very effective.
